The original home of the bouncy Balearic beat, Ibiza is famous for its image - loud, brash, outrageous and undeniably fun.
Whilst the holiday hordes (and hormonally charged teenagers) head for the "fish 'n' chips" resort of San Antonio, gay and lesbian visitors prime destination is the Islands capital - Ibiza Town, a charming old town with plenty of atmosphere and character.
During the day the beaches of Es Cavallet and neighbouring Las Salinas, which are just a few kilometres from Ibiza Town, are the perfect place to
chill out, tan all over, cruise - or simply do all of them! Alternatively, hire a car or simply hop on a bus and go exploring. Ibiza has many small and beautiful beaches and coves which are just begging to be discovered.
Once the sun sets, your destination will undoubtedly be the
historic centre of Ibiza Town where you'll find an abundance of gay bars and clubs. There's something to suit every taste - from small, intimate bars to large and outrageous clubs which will keep you going through until the morning light (or as long as you can last!)
Whatever you want from a holiday, Ibiza is one destination which is more than likely to offer all that you could want - and plenty more besides.

The resorts: IBIZA TOWN
- dominated by the historic, World Heritage site of 'D'alt
Vila', Ibiza town has a good selection of trendy gay
bars and restaurants and quite a bit of charm. However,
the town is a working, built-up area and can be noisy:
most tourists looking for a gay holiday stay in the
neighbouring suburb of 'FIGUERETAS', which is a
10 - 15 minute walk away. Developed through the 70's,
Figueretas has a pleasant bay with a couple of small
beaches, and a handful of gay bars but isn't much to
look at!
The main gay/nudist/cruising beach at Es
Cavallet is several miles away but can be reached by a
frequent (if usually packed!) local bus service that
runs through Ibiza Town and Figueretas - it's worth
making the effort to get to & having a car makes life a lot
easier! The resort is summer only, and is busy
from late May to late September - outside of this you
may find that some bars/hotels/restaurants are closed.

Situated in the very heart
of Ibiza Town, on the Paseo Vara de Rey, is the Hotel
Montesol, one of the towns landmark buildings and a popular hotel since 1934.
Officially only rated 1* (that's a bit mean, but the
Spanish star rating isn't based on quality), we rate it as
2*. The Montesol's 55 en-suite
rooms aren't going to bowl you over when it comes to the
style stakes but they all boast air conditioning (not that
common in the 2* category but usually essential!), tv and
telephone and most of the twins have a balcony overlooking the busy streets below (don't
forget, you'll be right in the centre of town so this might
not be a great choice for the light sleepers amongst you!).
Single rooms, however, are small and we classify them as
'interior' with a small window into a light well and a
neighbouring wall: good value but claustrophobic for some.
