Mykonos

Cool & chic under the Aegean sun, Mykonos is the classic gay Greek tourist 'chill-out' hotspot: by day chill out by your hotel pool, make a trip to one of the islands gay/nudist beaches (hop on the bus to Elia beach - the preferred gay hang out: Paradise and Super Paradise beaches having been overrun by straight, party animal teens) or indulge in a bit of culture: there's not much in Mykonos itself but the historic isle of Delos (one of the most important mythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece) is a short ferry ride away.

In the evening the picture perfect white-washed Mykonos Town (Chora) is host to fantastic choice of restaurants and bars including several welcoming gay bars (the gay scene here is relaxed - you won't find wild clubs or backrooms you might be used to in other gay resorts) hidden among a maze of paved alleyways winding through the old town areas and harbour side.

If you prefer a slightly quieter location than benig in the town centre itself consider the nearby resorts of Plati Yialos or Ornos, both cute and small beach resorts just a few kilometres south of Mykonos Town itself (in high season buses run 24 hours a day, and a ferry runs from both resorts to the beaches at Paradise, Super Paradise and Elia).

We've cherry-picked a selection of Mykonos Town hotels to suit all budgets and tastes - just perform a search to see what's available and you can make accommodation reservations online right here or call our reservations team for further assistance.

SEASON: SUMMER Only

The resort we offer: Most of our chosen MYKONOS accommodation is centrally located in the Mykonos Town (Chora) area , leaving you within easy walking distance of the town centre along with the gay bars, restaurants and shops. The most popular gay/nudist beach is now at Elia which is a 30 minute bus (there are frequent services in high season, and reasonable services at other times) ride from the town centre: Paradise and Super Paradise beaches are beginning to lose popularity with gay visitors but are also accessible by public transport. Mykonos Airport is about 3kms from the town itself. Clients with wheelchairs should note that many of the towns streets are narrow, paved or steep which may hinder access: we have selected a couple of hotels (the Harmony and Grand Beach) which have adapted rooms that may be suitable.

Elsium Gay Hotel, Mykonos Town

Gay Exclusive

The 'straight friendly' and therefore predominately gay Elysium hotel enjoys an elevated position (this does mean you'll find yourself walking up a steep road to the hotel) in the School of Fine Arts area, just a few minutes walk from the town centre and harbour side. Thanks to it's location most of the hotels rooms enjoy great views from their balconies or terraces across Mykonos Town, the windmills and out to the sea. The Elysium promotes itself as a 'luxury' hotel, but we'd classify it as an average 4* rating: rooms are typical of this standard (although the bathrooms are rather compact!) and the other facilities on offer with the hotel (gym, hydro-massage, a great pool and terrace) ensure that the Elysium remains a popular choice for gay clients.

Overlooking Megali Ammos beach, the Mykonos Beach is a 40 room complex just a few minutes walk from the town centre. The 40 'bungalow' rooms available here maybe a little dated in style and furnishings, but are perfectly adequate (and also with essential air-conditioning) and just about every room enjoys a sea view at great price. There is no swimming pool in the complex, but if you don't feel like taking a dip in the sea the swimming pool at neighbouring hotel is available.

New Aeolos, Mykonos Town

Gay Friendly

Located on the road to Elia beach, the New Aeolos is a comfortable 3* tourist hotel and about a 10-15 minute walk to the town centre (walking downhill is ok, but you'll probably want to get a taxi back up, especially if you've been out drinking!). The New Aeleos has 30 comfortable rooms, all air-conditioned, and thanks to the hotels elevated position most have great views out across Mykonos Town to the sea. This friendly, family run hotel also offers a 24 hour reception, breakfast room and pool with sun terraces. The road the hotel is located on is a little busy (by Mykonos standards!) but fortunately the accommodation block is removed enough from the road for this not to be too much of a problem.

Semeli, Mykonos Town

Gay Friendly

With a central location in Mykonos Town, the Semeli is a 4* hotel which aims to bring 'harmony and beauty' together, and offer its clients a 'home from home': in our opinion it's done this pretty well, without being over pretentious! The Semeli has plenty of character and charm: the hotel offers 45 rooms, each decorated and furnished to a high standard (the hotels central town location does however mean you probably won't do more than perhaps glimpse, if that, the sea from most of the rooms) and the high levels of comfort and service continue through to the overall service level, the public areas, the swimming pool, bar, restaurant and fitness centre.

The hotel style is quirky, retro and definitely on the funky side! With just 52 rooms, the Theoxenia still delivers great service and facilities with a pool, gym and gourmet restaurant all available without leaving the hotel!
