Mainland Spain's 'numero uno' gay holiday destination, Sitges is justly famous for its
laid back, liberal and happy approach to life - who or
whatever you are.
The choice of many Spaniards
for their own holidays, Sitges has remained a favoured gay
holiday destination for years, with many visitors choosing to
return year after year (after year...) and we can't blame
them.
The town offers all that any
holidaymaker could ever want - a vibrant, more upmarket gay scene
than most other gay holiday destinations, popular
beaches (including a busy centrally located 'clothed' beach
for the textiles and an equally busy nudist beaches and
neighbouring cruising area for those who want to bare all) and a pleasantly cool, sophisticated ambience to top
it all off.
A short 30 minute train ride away is the jewel in northern
(some would say all of) Spain's cultural heritage -
Barcelona. If you've not been before, a day or night should
be put on your list as a must - even if it does mean tearing
yourself away from the beach!
SEASON: SUMMER ONLY
The resort: Being a compact resort means that
most of our accommodation is located in the centre of
SITGES, leaving you with the towns bars, shops and
restaurants almost immediately on your doorstep. Please keep
in mind that being central and compact means that some
street noise is usually inevitable, but not necessarily
excessive. A couple of hotels (the Los Globos and Subur
Maritim, for example) are located in a leafy suburb
called El Vinyet and are about a 10 - 15 minute walk from
the town centre. The towns gay clothed beach is in the
centre of town and is therefore just a few minutes walk from
most hotels. The main gay nudist and cruising beach is a
couple of miles south of the town and should take about a 40
minute walk - people with walking difficulties may find some
parts of the paths leading to the beaches difficult.
Sitges is 'in season' during the summer months only, with it's busiest period from late May to late September.

Situated in the heart of this great
resort, leaving you just a couple of minutes walk from the gay bars,
shops & restaurants, the Hotel
Montserrat is a small and friendly family run hotel offering a relaxed
and informal environment to a mixed clientele.
All of the modern styled en-suite
rooms have air-conditioning, television, telephone and fridge making this hotel great
value for money. There are no 'single' rooms in the hotel, and
all single guests will receive a twin room at a great price.
There's a choice of room types
available: 'standard' rooms (previously called 'court view' which are at the back of the hotel with
windows into a small - you guessed it -courtyard (it is in fact a lightwell
so please
don't expect a view - it may be more reasonable to classify these rooms
as 'interior')
and 'superior' rooms (with or without balconies) overlooking the
streets (and the men!) below.
If you feel like topping up your tan
and don't fancy dragging yourself off to the beach (the clothed Picnic
gay beach is just 5 minutes walk away) you can take
advantage of the Montserrat's rooftop sun terrace.

and the rail station is just a five minute walk away. The
colourful rooms are relatively simply furnished (and a little dated in
style) but all come with air conditioning, television, mini bar and
en-suite bathroom. Balconies are subject to availability and cannot be
guaranteed, and you should also note that the hotel does have rooms on
the rear of the building which only have windows.
