GETTING FROM BARCELONA AIRPORT (BCN) TO SITGES
If you're not hiring a car there are three options for using public
transport to get from Barcelona Airport to Sitges:
• TRAIN
Pros: the cheapest option with a fare of about 2.60 Euros per person
each way (the price varies slightly depending if you are travelling on a
weekday, Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday), with trains departing every 30
minutes or so during the day and late into the evening (last departure is
usually 2344hrs):
Cons: the trains are usually busy; a change of station is required at 'El
Prat de Llobregat'; you may have a short wait at El Prat for a connecting
train.
Most clients use the train to make their transfer and once
you've done it once you'll probably find it a doddle, with most journeys
completed in about 55 minutes, but if you can and your arrival time suits,
we now recommend using the airport bus service detailed below (the more
people use this, the more likely it'll be kept on or increased in service:
it's quicker and a 'direct' service!). The trains and rail stations serving
Barcelona Airport and El Prat are easy targets for pick-pockets: no matter
how busy the train or station is - keep your wits about you.
An indication of train times can be found on the
Sitgestour:com website, but always check the local timetable for
updates.
• BUS
Pros: quicker than the train; no need to make a connection as it is a
direct service; still well priced at 2.85 Euros per person each way
Cons: only an hourly service during the day, with a reduced service
on Saturdays, Sunday and bank holidays
'Monbus'
operate an airport bus service that operates from BARCELONA -> BARCELONA
AIRPORT -> SITGES (and on down the coast to El Vendrell/Tarragona) and vice
versa, using distinctively marked red and white buses/coaches. At Barcelona
Airport the Monbus bus stop is located on the corner of terminal B (stood with the terminal behind you, head to the top righthand corner) - next to the 'Bloque Técnico' (technical block), just before terminal C - and the bus sets down and picks-up at the bus stops by the Oasis shopping centre in the centre of Sitges (most of our featured hotels are just a couple of minutes walk from here) with a journey time of about 45 minutes.

• TAXI
Pros: the quickest journey time of about 25 minutes; you
don't have to share with anyone else!
Cons: the most expensive fare: a vehicle for 3 people
costs about 70 Euros (£55) fare each way - always confirm the
fare with the driver before you depart; many Barcelona airport
taxi drivers do not know the location of Sitges hotels
The driver may ask 'via autopista?' to see if
you want the quickest route via the motorway and toll tunnels -
the price he gives should include the tolls.
