Ibiza - Figueretas & Ibiza Town

The original home of the bouncy Balearic beat, Ibiza is famous for its image - loud, brash, outrageous and undeniably fun.

Whilst the holiday hordes (and hormonally charged teenagers) head for the "fish 'n' chips" resort of San Antonio, gay and lesbian visitors prime destination is the Islands capital - Ibiza Town, a charming old town with plenty of atmosphere and character.

During the day the beaches of Es Cavallet and neighbouring Las Salinas, which are just a few kilometres from Ibiza Town, are the perfect place to chill out, tan all over, cruise - or simply do all of them! Alternatively, hire a car or simply hop on a bus and go exploring. Ibiza has many small and beautiful beaches and coves which are just begging to be discovered.

Once the sun sets, your destination will undoubtedly be the historic centre of Ibiza Town where you'll find an abundance of gay bars and clubs. There's something to suit every taste - from small, intimate bars to large and outrageous clubs which will keep you going through until the morning light (or as long as you can last!)

Whatever you want from a holiday, Ibiza is one destination which is more than likely to offer all that you could want - and plenty more besides.

SEASON: SUMMER ONLY

The resorts: IBIZA TOWN - dominated by the historic, World Heritage site of 'D'alt Vila', Ibiza town has a good selection of trendy gay bars and restaurants and quite a bit of charm. However, the town is a working, built-up area and can be noisy: most tourists looking for a gay holiday stay in the neighbouring suburb of 'FIGUERETAS', which is a 10 - 15 minute walk away. Developed through the 70's, Figueretas has a pleasant bay with a couple of small beaches, and a handful of gay bars but isn't much to look at!

The main gay/nudist/cruising beach at Es Cavallet is several miles away but can be reached by a frequent (if usually packed!) local bus service that runs through Ibiza Town and Figueretas - it's worth making the effort to get to & having a car makes life a lot easier!

The resort is summer only, and is busy from late May to late September - outside of this you may find that some bars/hotels/restaurants are closed.

Cenit, Figueretas

Gay Friendly

A firm gay friendly favourite, the Cenit offers simple, budget bed and breakfast en-suite hotel rooms and self-catering studio apartments. Located in an elevated position in Figueretas (it's not ideal for those with mobility problems as the hill leading up to the hotel is quite steep) guests can take advantage of the bar, restaurant and the Cenits' piece de la resistance - a great swimming pool and sun terraces which look out over Figueretas, the bay and beaches below!

There's 120 rooms simple but adequate rooms and the hotel boasts a bar/café, TV lounge, 24 hour reception and a rooftop plunge pool and sun terrace. The Hotel is right in the centre of Figueretas within minutes walk of shops, bars and restaurants.

A friendly 3* tourist hotel, the Nautico Ebeso is located on the Figueretas promenade leaving you just minutes walk from the bars, restuarants and ameneties in Figueretas and Ibiza Town. The rooms are comfortably furnished and of a good standard however we do recommend splashing out for a sea view room (which will have a balcony) if they're available!

Located on the Figueretas shoreline, the four star Los Molinos is committed to providing its guests with the best in service and comfort. The 168 rooms come complete with private bathroom, mini-bar, telephone, television and, to keep you cool on those long hot summer nights, air conditioning. Sea view rooms with balconies are available with great vistas across Figueretas bay (you'll get the afternoon and evening sun) and standard 'street view' rooms are at the back of the the hotel and have a window overlooking - you've guessed it - the street only. The Los Molinos has its own restuarant & bars, with a swimming pool, sun terraces and gardens to unwind in or you can work up a sweat in the Hotel's gymnasium, sauna and jacuzzi.
